Ford Fiesta Classic re-launched and re-badged as Ford Classic

The Ford Classic comes with minor design upgrades with prices starting from Rs 5.53 lakh.
Ford Fiesta sedan, which entered into the Indian market in 2005 has seen its fair share of changes, modifications and upgrades for the past seven years. When the all-new Ford Fiesta arrived in the country in 2011, Ford India did not axe the old model, but instead re-badged it as the Ford Fiesta Classic - after revising some of the features and design of course.

Now, the American company has once again toyed with the Fiesta Classic's identity with one more transformation. From now on, the Fiesta Classic will shed its Fiesta badge and will solely be known as the Ford Classic. This time too, there are quite a few design and feature updates given to the model. However, the interesting bit is that the company has also reduced the prices of the Ford Classic across all its variants.

Talking about the added features first, the Ford Classic now gets a new set of alloys, a new boot spoiler, and some minor design tweaks to its exterior.

On the inside, the Classic sedan has sacrificed its classy looking wooden panels to incorporate black plastics with aluminum inserts. There is also the front and rear fog lamps, rear defogger and a music system with Bluetooth connectivity. Safety features include dual front air bags and ABS.

Engine and variant-wise, nothing has changed. The Ford Classic will continue to be offered in six variants comprising of both petrol (1.6-litre Duratec engine) and diesel (1.4-litre Duratorq engine) options.

Coming to the price front, Ford India seems to have borrowed parts and features from its popular hatchback, Figo and installed them on to the Classic sedan, which has made its possible for the company to bring down the cost of the model by a significant amount, across all its variants. The base variant of petrol-powered Ford Classic has been priced at Rs 5.53 lakh, while the top-end diesel variants come with a price tag of Rs 8.47 lakh.
